Lewes — Conservation Area Expertise
Lewes is the county town of East Sussex and one of the most historically significant towns in the South East. The conservation area covering most of the town centre — including the High Street, Keere Street and the Castle Precincts — contains numerous listed buildings from the medieval period through to the Georgian era. External air conditioning equipment in the conservation area requires careful positioning and in listed buildings requires listed building consent.
We have installed in several Lewes town centre properties and understand the specific requirements of the local planning authority. Pre-application discussions with Lewes District Council typically confirm acceptable installation approaches for well-considered proposals.
Eastbourne — Sunshine Capital
Eastbourne is one of the sunniest towns in the UK — receiving more hours of sunshine annually than almost anywhere else on the south coast. This directly drives air conditioning demand, particularly in the residential areas close to the seafront where solar gain is highest. The Meads area, with its large Victorian and Edwardian detached houses, is one of the most active domestic installation markets in East Sussex.
Seafront and near-seafront properties in Eastbourne require marine-grade outdoor units — the same consideration as Brighton and Worthing. Properties within approximately 200-300 metres of the sea should specify epoxy-coated heat exchanger fins as standard.
