Chichester — Roman City Conservation Area
Chichester’s Roman walls define one of the best-preserved Roman city layouts in England. The city centre within the walls is almost entirely a conservation area with a high proportion of Georgian, medieval and earlier buildings. Installing air conditioning in the city centre requires careful planning consideration — outdoor units must be positioned away from the Roman walls and principal street elevations, and listed building consent is required for installations affecting listed properties.
