🚨 24/7 Emergency Air Con Repair — Call Now: 07833 053749

What Happens During an Air Conditioning Emergency Call-Out

When your air conditioning breaks down at the worst possible moment — during a heatwave, in a server room, on a busy trading day — you want to know what will happen when you call for emergency repair. Here is exactly what our emergency call-out process looks like.

When You Call

Call 07833 053749. You will speak to a real person — not a call centre or automated system. Tell us: your location, the make and model of your system if you know it, what symptoms you are experiencing, and how urgent the situation is (a server room is treated differently from a residential bedroom). We will confirm attendance time and any immediate steps you can take while waiting.

What to Do Before We Arrive

Switch the system off at the isolator switch if: there is water leaking from the unit, you can smell burning, the system is making loud unusual noises, or an error code is showing. Continuing to run a faulty system can cause further damage.

Check the obvious things: Is the unit set to cooling mode (not heating or fan only)? Is the filter blocked? Is the outdoor unit obstructed? Sometimes the problem is simpler than it appears.

Note the error code if one is displayed. Take a photo of the display — this gives us useful diagnostic information before we arrive and can sometimes allow us to bring specific parts.

The Diagnostic Process

When the engineer arrives, the first step is diagnosis — determining the root cause, not just treating the symptom. We use:

Manifold gauges: Measuring refrigerant circuit pressures confirms whether the system has a refrigerant leak, a restriction or an overcharge. The pressure readings tell us a great deal about system condition in 5 minutes.

Temperature measurement: Measuring the temperature differential across the indoor unit coil confirms cooling efficiency. Measuring outdoor ambient vs condenser temperature confirms outdoor unit heat rejection.

Electronic leak detector: If refrigerant leak is suspected, an electronic detector identifies the leak location — typically at flare joints or valve connections.

PCB and electrical checks: Error codes are interpreted against manufacturer fault code guides. Electrical connections are inspected for signs of failure.

Parts and First-Time Fix

We carry common replacement parts for all major brands on our service vehicles — thermistors, common PCBs, fan motors, drain pumps and miscellaneous electrical components. For a large proportion of faults we achieve a first-time fix on the same visit. For less common parts, we can typically source within 24-48 hours.

After the Repair

Following repair, we run the system through a complete operational test — checking temperatures, pressures and all functions — before considering the job complete. We provide a written report of the fault found, the repair carried out, and any recommendations for future maintenance. F-Gas documentation is completed where refrigerant was handled.

For emergencies, call 07833 053749 now. We cover East Grinstead, Surrey, Sussex and South London with same-day attendance for genuine commercial emergencies.
